Great location that is 2 km away from the ferry terminal. We had our room facing the sea and was able to enjoy the beautiful sight of the sun rising! Room is spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. We especially enjoyed the restaurant’s yummy seafood dinner. We will most definitely return!

We, 18 female retirees, last week made a trip to Tanjong Balai for an overnight weekend vacation. As recommended by friends, we checked in to the newly built “21 Karimun Hotel” which is facing the sea. The view of the horizon from the room window is magnificent, especially when we quietly watched the sunrise and sunset.

This clean and refreshing hotel is merely 10mins drive from the ferry terminal, In the evening, happy families take their places along the beach which becomes alive and inviting, graced by the illumination from the bulbs of the food and drink stalls bustling with activities.

Every room in the hotel is spacious and equipped with modern electronic devices and technological connections. The rooms are comfortable, it was q pleasure to return to a room cool with air-condition.

As the hotel is still adding extensions to the back of its building, more and better facilities can be expected in the near future. While even some classy hotels in other countries could not stake a claim to have wifi access in the rooms, apart from occasional drop-off lines, this hotel boast unlimited wifi access in the rooms.

During our brief stay, we were fortunate to have had the opportunity to be treated to a lavish and sumptuous spread of Chinese dinner that was passionately prepared by the head chef who took great pride in introducing us to his specialties. Among the 12-course meal, we ate Korean Ginseng
Chicken soup served in a stone casserole, an extremely large size steam seabass, a generous dish of fried prawns, a shell fish popularly known among the Chinese as ‘gong gong’ which we had no problem extracting the flesh from the shell, stir-fried fresh green vegetables and deep fried squids.
The portion of each dish was certainly enough for sharing with 15 diners.

The staff displayed an air of professionalism, no less the service standard that we have been accustomed to receive at a 3-star Singapore hotel. The Management team had humbly welcomed honest and critical feedback so that the hotel could improve even further. We suggested the provision
of bicycle rental, BBQ facilities, games room, in-house karaoke rooms, and the like.

With the assistance of the hotel management, we managed to enjoy a memorable and rustic land tour. The Mercedes 18-seater wood passenger lorry was our most interesting mode of transportation.

In it, we rode to the far end to sip coconut water under natural foliage shelters; we went for lunch in town, we visited the wet market, did some shopping, drank the Balai special local caffeine brew and tropical fruit juice, were pampered to a relaxing body massage and a long night crooning our lungs out at a karaoke joint.

We have no regret having chosen to stay at 21 Karimun Hotel but only praises for the hospitality that we received at Tanjong Balai. We would recommend our friends and relatives to experience an equally, if not more, exciting and joyful vacation there as well.
